The Medical University of South Carolina family joins our community in mourning the passing of Joe Rice, a distinguished attorney, civic leader, philanthropist and generous friend whose impact on countless lives will be felt for generations.
His integrity, compassion and unwavering commitment to serving others is an example for us all. His legacy of service is reflected not only in his own achievements, but also in the values embraced by his family.
We were extremely fortunate to have Joe as our dedicated ambassador. His commitment to improving the health of children was inspirational.
One of my fondest memories of Joe is seeing his passion and pride as we raised critical funds and celebrated the work of our Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital at Bulls Bay Golf Club. Through his and his family commitments, millions of dollars were raised each year in support of our pediatric services.
On behalf of the entire MUSC family, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Lisa, Ann E., Tucker and Beckett, the Motley Rice team, and all who were touched by Joe’s extraordinary life and work.
