Title IX is a federal law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex, which includes sexual harassment and sexual violence, in education programs and activities. Prohibited discrimination occurs when an MUSC student or employee is treated differently based on their sex or gender.
The Medical University of South Carolina (“MUSC”) does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, as required by Title IX and its regulations, including in admission and employment.
Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to MUSC’s Title IX Coordinator, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or both. MUSC’s Title IX Coordinator is Daniela Sorokko Harris, 171 Ashley Avenue, Main Hospital NT, Suite 246, Charleston, SC, 29425, harridan@musc.edu, 843-792-1282.
