The team of Melisa Davis, Elizabeth Singleton, and Rianna Lash took the MUSC College of Pharmacy to the country's top 10 colleges of pharmacy in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Clinical Research Challenge! The team placed seventh out of 82 total schools.
The team's proposal was reviewed by the Clinical Research Challenge (CRC) Review Panel and selected as a finalist for review by the CRC Oversight Panel, which meant they finished in the top ten.
The challenge is a team-based competition in which teams of three students compete against teams from other schools and colleges of pharmacy nationwide in an online format. The competition began February 12, 2024, with more than 80 teams entering the Online Journal Club Competition.
On February 14, 2024, ACCP announced the top 40 teams moving on to round two, the Letter of Intent (LOI) for grant submission round. After round two, the top 20 moved into round three, and the winners were announced June 12, 2024. The top three teams will be invited to present their research design at the ACCP Annual Meeting, among other prizes.
Davis came to MUSC from Northern Arizona University, where she earned a BS in biomedical sciences; Singleton is Clemson University graduate with a degree in chemical engineering; and Lash completed her pre-pharmacy work at the University of South Carolina. All three students will be starting their third year this fall.
