MUSC Health and Cigna extend current agreement through Aug. 31

June 24, 2026

CHARLESTON, S.C. (June 24, 2026) – MUSC Health and Cigna have agreed to extend their current network participation agreement through Aug. 31, 2026, allowing additional time for negotiations regarding a new long-term contract.

The 60-day extension ensures that Cigna members will continue to have uninterrupted in-network access to MUSC Health hospitals, physicians, clinics and other health care services while negotiations continue.

MUSC Health agreed to the extension to avoid disruption for patients and provide both organizations additional time to work toward resolution of the remaining issues.

As South Carolina's leading academic health system, MUSC Health provides a broad range of advanced and highly specialized services, including transplant care, trauma services, cancer treatment, pediatric subspecialty care and high-risk maternal-fetal medicine. The extension allows patients to continue receiving these services at in-network benefit levels while negotiations proceed.

No action is required from patients at this time. Cigna members may continue to access care from MUSC Health providers and facilities as they do today.

MUSC Health remains committed to reaching an agreement that appropriately supports access to the high-quality, specialized care provided by its physicians, hospitals and care teams. Updates will be provided should significant developments occur.
