Plants and flowers abound across the Medical University of South Carolina campus. MUSC has earned the designations of both Tree Campus USA and Bee Campus USA. The MUSC Arboretum is dedicated to transforming campus "into a place of optimal healing and learning by creating an urban landscape that invigorates, inspires, and teaches through nature." But there are a few areas around campus that are resistant to such efforts: dark and flood-prone, there aren't many plants that will thrive in these few pockets, one of which is the walkway that connects Ashley Avenue to the Ashley-Rutledge Parking Garage and to Rutledge Tower. With some clever brainstorming and collaboration between departments, however, the walkway has recently been beautified with a new mural.
