The MUSC Wellness Center's Clinical Exercise Department develops and implements exercise programs specific to the needs of various clinical populations. The programs are designed to maintain and continue to build on improving strength and stamina through science backed exercise modalities and go beyond the parameters of typical fitness classes by including more supportive aspects such as nutrition counseling and other educational resources. The Clinical Exercise Department collaborates with MUSC healthcare providers to ensure the best and safest exercise protocols are followed for all participants.
The MUSC Wellness Center partners with the Hollings Cancer Center to provide a 10-week breast cancer survivor wellness program. Fit Club focuses on improving cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, body composition, fatigue, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and several quality of life factors specific to cancer survivors. Head and Neck Heroes is a 10-week overall fitness and wellness program specifically designed for head and neck cancer survivors. The program focuses on improving balance, postural stability, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, body composition, and symptoms of fatigue. The program also provides a supportive community that enhances mental wellness, leading to a healthy sense of self. Head Neck Heroes is sponsored through the Hollings Cancer Center.

The Rheumatology Program encourages individuals with rheumatological disorders to safely and effectively exercise using aquatics and some land-based exercise protocols. Participants will meet twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:45am-10:45am.

Rock Steady Boxing is an exercise program designed specifically for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease to help improve mobility, balance, overall strength, and Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s). Individuals at any stage of the disease are accommodated.
Rocksteady Boxing at the MUSC Wellness Center delivers a curriculum that addresses the major symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Participants' safety is a top priority with multiple certified Rocksteady Boxing Coaches at every class. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00am - 12:30pm.

Pick It Up for Parkinson's is an 8-week instructional program, developed by exercise professionals and Movement Disorders specialists, that teaches people with Parkinson’s disease (PwPD) the techniques and strategies to play pickleball safely. The goal of the program is to get PwPD excited about the game and teach them key techniques and safety features that enable them to incorporate pickleball recreational play into their PD exercise routine.
Pick It Up for Parkinson's includes a therapist or trainer certified to teach this sport and educated on how to adapt play for safety. Players can also be grouped according to both skill and stage of disease, with increased safeguards or lower intensity for those at higher risk of falls.
The session of Pick It Up will start on February 3 and run through March 26. Classes will meet in the Wellness Center Indoor Basketball Court on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30pm - 3:45pm. Pick It Up for Parkinson's is sponsored in full by the MUSC Movement Disorders Program.
