MUSC Health is making changes to some Rutledge Tower services over the next several years to help make care easier to access across the Charleston area. If your care is affected, we will give you the information you need before your appointment changes. Our goal is to make each move as smooth as possible and to keep you informed every step of the way.
You can continue to get the care you need during these transitions. In most cases, you will see the same provider, but your appointment may move to a different location. If that happens, MUSC Health will contact you directly with the new location, directions and any other details you need before your visit.

Effective 9/25 — Entrance, Valet and Shuttle Changes
Starting September 25, patients and visitors will enter Rutledge Tower at 135 Rutledge Avenue, near the corner of Calhoun Street. This area will also serve as the new location for valet parking and shuttle pickup and drop-off.
Beginning September 25, the covered entrance at Rutledge Tower will close. The new main entrance will be located at 135 Rutledge Avenue - near the corner of Calhoun Street.
If you have an appointment at Rutledge Tower on or after September 25, be sure to allow extra time to park, locate the new entrance and check in for your visit. Follow posted signs and directions from valet, parking and Public Safety staff. Team members will also be available onsite to provide directions and answer questions.
The surface parking area closest to Rutledge Tower located at 135 Rutledge Tower will close to patient parking and will be used for construction access only. Please check your appointment reminder before coming to campus, allow extra time to park and follow signs to the relocated entrance. If you need help finding the entrance or getting to your appointment, please ask a valet, Public Safety officer or MUSC Health team member for assistance.
Accessible parking will remain available, although some spaces may be farther from the building than you are used to. The Rutledge Tower Garage at 81 Vanderhorst Street will have a limited number of ADA accessible parking spaces for patients. The Ashley-Rutledge Garage at 151 Rutledge Avenue will continue to have standard and ADA accessible parking spaces available for patients.
For wheelchair assistance, use a courtesy phone near an elevator or call 843-876-0101 (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday) from your cell phone. South Carolina State law provides that there is no charge for parking in metered or timed facilities for vehicles which display a handicap plate or placard and which are driven by or transporting the handicapped individual. If the handicapped individual is not in the vehicle, the posted parking rate applies.

Valet service will continue to be available and will be relocated at the new patient entrance at 135 Rutledge Avenue. If you have mobility concerns, are unsure where to go or would prefer assistance getting from your vehicle to the building, valet staff can help direct you to the relocated entrance. MUSC Health also will have additional team members in the area to help with traffic flow, answer questions and guide patients through the new parking and arrival pattern.
