Categories of Ideas for the Gateway

The MUSC Innovation Gateway is a service now portal where innovators can submit ideas to the enterprise. To see which is the best for your idea, explore here.

This category is for proactive, solution-focused ideas from MUSC employees who want to be actively involved in developing and implementing their concepts. These submissions focus on generating and sharing innovative projects or solutions that have the potential to advance the organization’s mission, improve outcomes, or create meaningful change. Ideas can fall under sub-categories such as Patient Care & Experience, Workforce Efficiency & Well-Being, Clinical Process Improvement, Technology & Digital Solutions, Cost Savings & Resource Optimization, Health Disparities, Education & Training, Research, Environment & Infrastructure, and Quality & Safety.

This category is dedicated to ideas related to medical devices, and it is handled by the Zucker Institute. Submissions can include proposed improvements to existing medical devices, ideas for integrating different devices, or concepts for entirely new medical devices.

This category is specifically for ideas that align with MUSC Health's strategic "pillar goals." These ideas aim to drive transformative change within key areas such as Growth (e.g., improving patient access, inpatient surgical growth), Quality (e.g., patient mobility, transitions of care), Finance (e.g., revenue enhancement, cost savings), People (e.g., increasing care team engagement, decreasing turnover), and Service (e.g., family presence, waiting room management). This also includes broader goals related to Education and Research.

“Get rid of stupid stuff” or GROSS, is managed by the Office of Wellbeing. This category is for ideas focused on identifying and eliminating inefficient or unnecessary processes and practices that negatively impact staff wellbeing and operational efficiency.

The Suggestion Box, curated by the Office of Innovation (OI), is a general avenue for sharing any ideas or feedback that may not be tied to a specific project request. It welcomes input on opportunities for innovation, general improvement, or any other feedback from the community.
