MUSC Hollings Cancer Center announces expansion of cancer care at Okatie Medical Pavilion

November 19, 2025

(Charleston, SC – Nov. 19, 2025) Residents of Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head Island and surrounding areas now have closer access to the expert cancer care provided by doctors affiliated with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center.

MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Breast Care, a part of MUSC Medical Center, is offering multidisciplinary breast cancer care at Beaufort Memorial Okatie Medical Pavilion.

Additionally, Hollings medical oncologists are available at the pavilion to care for individuals with other types of cancer.

Breast cancer care

Board-certified breast surgical oncologist Tara Grahovac, M.D., has cared for breast cancer patients in Okatie since the summer of 2022. She is now joined by Christie Hilton, D.O., a board-certified breast medical oncologist, and Lindsay Gamble, APRN, a family nurse practitioner.

Surgical oncologists are surgeons who have received additional training to operate on cancer cases. Medical oncologists use drugs, such as chemotherapies or immunotherapies, to treat cancer. Working together, these specialists can tailor a personalized treatment course for each patient’s needs.

Hilton is also spearheading efforts to expand regional access to MUSC Hollings Cancer Center clinical trials, which offer patients the opportunity to access new treatments that may become the standard-of-care in the future.

Medical oncology

As part of its commitment to bringing high-level cancer care to communities across the state, MUSC is expanding its medical oncology services into the Okatie area. People diagnosed with other types of cancer will be able to get care from a medical oncologist at the pavilion, and infusion services will be available for both oncology and non-cancer patients. This new capability broadens our reach and strengthens our commitment to delivering multidisciplinary, compassionate care throughout our communities.

This expansion lays the groundwork for continued growth in the region. In May 2026, the new Bluffton Medical Office Building will open, expanding access to community-based medical oncology and cancer subspecialty care. Together, these efforts represent an important step toward building a fully integrated cancer network across the state.
