LANCASTER, S.C. (Nov. 13, 2025)-MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center has once again earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. This marks the second consecutive “A” rating for the hospital in 2025, following its Spring 2025 recognition.
Leapfrog assigns letter grades – an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” – to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety. “This achievement reflects the dedication of every member of our team to provide safe, high-quality care for our patients and community,” said J. Scott Broome, CEO of MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center. “Earning back-to-back ‘A’ grades from the Leapfrog Group is an incredible honor and reinforces our continued commitment to patient safety and excellence.”
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of the Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries, which claim more than 500 lives daily in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and available to the public at no cost. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
