MUSC, through its commitment to change what’s possible in healthcare, works with community organizations to optimize the health of those we serve. We focus our support by prioritizing programs that culturally align with our organization’s mission, vision, and values. Sponsorship of events is limited and highly competitive. MUSC Health only provides funding to organizations once in a 12-month period.
If your organization’s request meets the sponsorship criteria below, we invite you to apply during the appropriate application period. MUSC Health has four open sponsorship application periods:

*Please note that you may apply for your program or event earlier than listed above but no less than 12 weeks before the start of the program or event.
Our Guiding Principles
- Be a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501c(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code
- Serve communities that are also served by MUSC Health
- Serve communities without discrimination against any individual on the basis of race, creed, gender, age, sexual orientation or national origin
- Provide data that supports the organization’s positive community impact
Applications meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered for funding but there is no guarantee of funding until approved.
Limitations
As a publicly supported academic medical center, MUSC operates under some constraints regarding sponsorships. MUSC cannot support:
Activities or organizations that do not support our public purpose
- Annual fund support
- Beauty pageants
- Capital campaigns
- Employee family member sponsorships
- Events or organizations outside MUSC’s service areas or markets.
- Fraternal or labor groups
- Fundraising events if more than 20 percent of funds are directed toward administrative, operating, or fundraising expenses
- Individuals, including those seeking scholarship, fellowship, or internship assistance
- Little League teams, booster clubs, fraternities, or other civic clubs or organizations
- Memorials, scholarships, or endowments.
- MUSC supporting other MUSC entities or events
- Organizations with a substantial purpose of influencing any political, legislative, or regulatory cause
- Religious or evangelical organizations, programs, or projects
- Requests from organizations to support conference fees.
- Requests from organizations to support field trips or tours.
- Solicitations on health system properties
