Welcome to the Web-based Instruction in Assistive Technology for School Personnel. This course concentrates on the assistive technology tools that have the greatest applicability in the school setting: seating and positioning aids, mobility aids, communication devices and alternative writing devices. Throughout the semester, participants will develop the skills necessary to evaluate for assistive technology tools and implement the use of technology aids in the classroom.   At the end of the course, participants will receive hands-on training with many of the assistive aids and devices seen throughout the course.

Funded with a grant from the South Carolina Developmental Disabilities Council (Grant #112-21-0013), the course and its team are based at MUSC. This project combines the use of teaching modules delivered on CDs with online discusssions, chatlines and exams through an online course management system called WebCT.
