I am pleased to announce that the Charleston Academy of Music is presenting two new concert series with free admission! In celebration of our 10th anniversary, we will have 14 concerts this year starting next Monday and continuing through May 2014.
The first series, the Guest Artists Series, presents five international artists/pedagogues performing an hour long recital. The first artist, Raquel Boldorini from Uruguay, is performing on Monday Sept 9 at 4:30pm at Bishop Gadsden Chapel. She will also give a masterclass is on Saturday Sept 7, at 2:00pm at the Charleston Academy of Music Recital Hall. The other artists in this year's series will come in December, February, March and May, and perform in various venues around Charleston including the Charleston Library Society and Ashley Hall.
The other series is called the "Rush Hour Mini Concerts". This series showcases CAM's talented faculty and honors students. This series is always on a Tuesday, from 5:30 to 6:00pm with a pre-concert talk at 5:15pm, and it is good for adults and students to drop by after work and school before dinner. CAM is reaching out to people who otherwise would be reluctant to go for a full length concert at night either because it is too late or too long of a concert. The first concert is on October 8, featuring two Mozart Flute Quartets. On October 22, our clarinet and piano faculty perform duos.
