Lexicomp: point-of-care drug information
July 16, 2013
The library is pleased to announce the availability of Lexicomp Online <http://online.lexi.com/lco/action/home?siteid=1> to all areas of the MUSC campus and from off-campus.
Lexicomp is a point-of-care drug information resource that provides comprehensive drug information on drugs used in the US and the world. It includes a drug interactions tool, drug identification, easy to use calculators (including pediatric), Trissel's IV compatibility ebook, patient education materials for drugs, diseases or conditions and discharge information in English and Spanish, and the American Hospital Formulary Service (AHFS).
In addition, this subscription makes available 13 full text dental books, <http://online.lexi.com/lco/action/home?siteid=2> oral surgery videos, the 5-Minute Clinical Consult point-of-care resource, and Facts & Comparisons.
Note: As the cost of library resources increases nearly 10% annually, the library in consultation with the MUHA Drug Information Center will no longer be subscribing to Micromedex, after July 19th, which would have cost the Library over $150,000 for the coming year. The more economical Lexicomp, provides the information most often used by clinicians and students in a clean interface that is easy-to-use and understand, allowing users to quickly find answers.
