RESEARCH INTERESTS:

The focus of my research involves early processes of osteogenesis from the hematopoietic stem cells. My project is based on the hypothesis that haematopoietic stem cells give rise to osteoblasts and osteocytes. The overall goals of my project are to elucidate mechanisms regulating the differentiation and maturation of osteogenic cells from haematopoietic stem cells and to determine the specific haematopoietic stem cell lineage that gives rise to these cells in vitro. These studies would have clinical applications in giving stem cell therapy to bone diseases like osteoporosis and Osteogenesis imperfect.
