KidSat STS 76

Buist Academy

March 1996

Students at Buist Academy in Charleston were among the first pilot schools to work on a KidSat mission, then called YES. Charleston County was involved in the pilot program due to the role that Can Do played in the development of KidSat. KidSat cameras flew on STS 76 in March, 1996. Children in grades 5 - 8 chose targets that included circular desert irrigation, ice in Hudson Bay, and Saudi Arabia. Click on a thumbnail image below to view a larger image. Can you locate these places on a map in your atlas? You can get more information from the KidSat Data System. Go to "List Images" or "Geo.Search" to find the STS 76 images you want to learn more about.
