SCTR is hosting a Scientific Retreat on Pain Research from 9:00am - 3:00pm, on Friday, May 23, in the MUSC Bioengineering Building Auditorium. Main Objectives of the Retreat are to stimulate new scientific interactions among many disciplines including basic scientists, clinical scientists and community partners to develop new collaborations and innovative project ideas/pilot projects related to pain research. This retreat is free and open to anyone who would like to attend. We strongly encourage investigators who are conducting pain related research whether it is basic research, clinical research and/or community related research to attend.
The Keynote Address is "The Chronic Pain Epidemic: Translational Challenges and Opportunities" by Roger B. Fillingim, Ph.D., Immediate Past President of the American Pain Society (APS), Professor, University of Florida College of Dentistry, Director, UF Pain Research and Intervention Center of Excellence. Other talks will address Conceptualization, Comorbidity and Interventions; Pain Management and the Role of Opioids; and MUSC Comprehensive Pain Management Program including its Current Research, Inter-professional Collaboration, Program Design and Implementation. There will also be a Multidisciplinary Panel Discussion.
