Ghana, West Africa
Dr. Sarah L. Logan 843-693-2233 email@example.com
Medical and non-medical support positions still available for summer Village Health Outreach in Ghana, West Africa.
Informational meeting is scheduled for noon, January 16, in the Colbert Library, room 107.
We will discuss the requirements, expectations, costs, etc. of this 12-day experience.
This will be the 6th annual Village Health Outreach (VHO) in Okurase, and this year's focus areas will be infectious disease (malaria, TB, skin and eye infections, etc), gastroenterology, opthalmology, dermatology, respiratory therapy, wound care, blood pressure and pain management.
For those who are medically licensed in the US, we will help you with the process of obtaining a license in Ghana, as well.
On this trip, we will join Ghanaian professionals to provide care to the warm and welcoming residents of Okurase. While anyone is encouraged to join the trip, medical professionals in allied health, administration, pharmacy, pediatrics, pulmonology, optometry, ophthalmology and more are needed. Non-medical volunteers will be able to help in a supportive role, garner community support, coordinate logistics, and manage patient information.
All volunteers will get the extraordinary opportunity to experience life in a rural African village and interact with the locals. Anyone with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic is encouraged to join Project Okurase, in partnership with the Medical University of South Carolina, and the SAGE Program, on what will be a truly rewarding and life-changing experience!
