Florence Nightingale Lunch Lecture by Lynn McDonald

The MUSC College of Nursing is sponsoring a lecture and Florence Nightingale historical exhibit at 12:30pm, on November 7, at the Charleston Library Society (CLS). "The Lady with the Lamp: Florence Nightingale's Legacy for Nursing and Healthcare Today" will be the topic of a lecture by Dr. Lynn McDonald, who is widely recognized as a leading authority on Florence Nightingale. The exhibition of Florence Nightingale letters and artifacts will be on display at the CLS from November 7-30.

Lynn McDonald is director of the sixteen-volume Collected Works of Florence Nightingale and Florence Nightingale at First Hand, 2010. She is university professor emerita at the University of Guelph, Ontario, a former Member of the Canadian Parliament and president of the National Action committee on the Status of Women, then Canada's largest women's organization. As a parliamentarian, she sponsored Canada's ground-breaking legislation to establish smoke-free work and public places and ban cigarette advertising, in 1988. She is co-founder of The Nightingale Society, which promotes the vision and work of Florence Nightingale and defends her reputation and work.
