The MUSC College of Nursing is sponsoring a lecture and Florence Nightingale historical exhibit at 12:30pm, on November 7, at the Charleston Library Society (CLS). "The Lady with the Lamp: Florence Nightingale's Legacy for Nursing and Healthcare Today" will be the topic of a lecture by Dr. Lynn McDonald, who is widely recognized as a leading authority on Florence Nightingale. The exhibition of Florence Nightingale letters and artifacts will be on display at the CLS from November 7-30.

Lynn McDonald is director of the sixteen-volume Collected Works of Florence Nightingale and Florence Nightingale at First Hand, 2010. She is university professor emerita at the University of Guelph, Ontario, a former Member of the Canadian Parliament and president of the National Action committee on the Status of Women, then Canada's largest women's organization. As a parliamentarian, she sponsored Canada's ground-breaking legislation to establish smoke-free work and public places and ban cigarette advertising, in 1988. She is co-founder of The Nightingale Society, which promotes the vision and work of Florence Nightingale and defends her reputation and work.

Below is the link from the CLS website to learn more about the lecture and to purchase tickets.
