Are you an OEF/OIF Veteran or Service Member?

Did you serve in Iraq or Afghanistan or support those operations? If so, did you experience a traumatic event, such as combat or a serious injury? Do you find that you are still affected by the event? For example, do you have nightmares or unwanted memories of what happened? Do you avoid situations that remind you the traumatic event? And do you find that you drink alcohol or use drugs to help cope with how the trauma has affected you?

You may be eligible to participate in this study if:

You served in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) or Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). This may include National Guard and Reservists.

You experienced distress associated with a traumatic event.

You have used alcohol or drugs in the past 60 days.

You do not currently live in VA housing.

If enrolled in the study, participants have a 50/50 chance of being in the COPE treatment (a 12 week treatment focused on PTSD and substance abuse) or a treatment-as-usual program.

You will be compensated for your time and information is kept strictly confidential. If interested, please contact Mary Ashley at 843- 792-0236 or text 843-259-2673 to find out more.
