Free Weight Management Class for Low-Income Residents

Josh Brown, Ph.D. (psychologist and Director of Clinical Services and Training) and Tonya Turner, RD, LD, (head registered dietitian) of the MUSC Weight Management Center, along with Rebecca Knackstedt (an MUSC MD/PhD student) started a student group in the Fall of 2012. This student group has 2 primary missions:
We currently have 38 MUSC medical and graduate students enrolled in this student group. These are the folks who'll be leading the free classes. We're now ready to begin recruiting for our first "L.E.A.N. for Life" class (L.E.A.N. = Lifestyle Education on Activity and Nutrition), which is slated to begin April 13 and will take place every Saturday from 2:00-3:15pm, for 10 weeks, at St. Andrew's Family Fitness in West Ashley.
We're sending this Broadcast message in hopes that you might be able to help spread the word about this wonderful opportunity to those we're attempting to reach. We've contacted 40 or so local organizations in an effort to get the word out, but we can use all the help we can get! If you have contact with patients or other individuals who you believe might benefit from this upcoming opportunity, we gratefully request that you share our flyer with them (flyer can be downloaded/printed at the above link).
