HGTV Dreamhome - Volunteers Needed
Are you looking to do something different this weekend?
Each year, HGTV sponsors the building of a dream home somewhere in the U.S. This year, Kiawah is the selected location, and they have built an absolutely fabulous home - which will be given away to a lucky sweepstakes winner (sorry, the sweepstakes have already closed). The dreamhome is open to the public over the next two weekends (Fri-Sat-Sun) for a $20 admission fee, and over 3,000 have visited the dreamhome the past two weekends.
All of the proceeds from the tours of the dreamhome go to Communities In Schools, a superb 5.01(C)3 which works to keep at-risk youth in school and on-track for earning their high school diploma.
Why this broadcast message? First, to encourage you to visit the dreamhome. The people that have toured it have certainly come away impressed. Second, there is a need for volunteers to help with the tours. Such things as directing traffic, keeping an eye on things as people tour the house, helping people with the plastic booties that are worn over shoes while touring the house, etc. We are looking for volunteers for this Friday afternoon (1:15 to 5:30pm) and for this Saturday morning (9:30am to 1:45pm). If you have any interest in volunteering, please contact Anne Lee Treat or Jane Riley at 740-6793 right away (and they will probably need some volunteer support next weekend as well).
