The time is running out to get your tickets. If you are looking for a memorable evening filled with fine cuisine, spirits, live music, fabulous auction bargains, and the most delectable chocolate desserts in Charleston, let me recommend that you buy your tickets now for The Chocolate Affair to be held on Saturday, February 9, at the Charleston Marriott. You will have a great time, while benefiting a hugely successful school dropout program.
Just what is The Chocolate Affair? It is a wonderful evening that is also the principal annual fund raising activity for Communities In Schools of the Charleston Area, and it features heavy hors d'oeuvres, silent and live auctions, music to dance to, and, as previously mentioned, delectable chocolate desserts prepared by dessert chefs from throughout the Lowcountry.
And what is Communities In Schools (CIS) Charleston? It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dropout prevention program that surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. The overarching goal is that all students complete high school -and many of our program graduates have not only met this goal, but also graduated from college. A unique collaboration with the Charleston and Berkeley County School Districts allows CIS Student Support Specialists to work within schools, where they can respond to the needs of at-risk children and their families. For the 2012- 2013 school year, CIS is serving over 10,750 children, attending 23 schools in Charleston and Berkeley Counties. CIS Charleston is a nationally accredited affiliate of the 35-year-old Communities In Schools - National organization headquartered in the Washington DC area. CIS has been recognized as being the most effective drop-out prevention in America by the Atlantic Philanthropies, and has also been recognized by Worth magazine as one of the top 100 charities that will save the world.
Be part of this fun evening and help area students stay in school. Tickets are $100, or $185 per couple - inexpensive when compared to the enjoyment of the evening and the satisfaction you will get from supporting this incredibly successful program which is doing so much to help our Lowcountry youth.
