American Red Cross Announces New Hours of Operation for MUSC Donation Center

(Make a Difference)

Beginning January 4
Barbie Kolar 792-1015

The American Red Cross South Carolina Blood Services Region announces new hours of operation for its MUSC donation center beginning Friday, January 4.

New schedule effective Friday, Jan. 4:
Monday: 11:00am - 7:00pm
Friday: 6:00am - 2:00pm

The new schedule will better match donors' preferred times for making whole blood donations and help accommodate those MUSC employees that may work alternative shifts. The American Red Cross blood donor room is located in room 279 of the University Hospital and can be reached at 843-792-1015.

We are truly grateful for your time and willingness to save lives. It is only through the dedication of donors like you that we are able to provide lifesaving blood to our hospital patients.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook to keep up to date on special promotions, giveaways, department sponsors, eligibility dates and specific blood types we are in need of at MUSC:

Please also let me know if you would like your department to be a sponsor of the week for the donor room. I'd be happy to send information on how our program works. It's easy and a good way for your department to be involved with the mission of MUSC.

For more information on blood donation and sponsorship opportunities, please contact Red Cross donor recruitment representative Barbie Kolar at or 843-323-7457.

Blood can be safely donated every 56 days, and platelets can be donated every seven days or up to 24 times a year. Most healthy people age 17 and older or 16 with parental consent who weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to donate blood and platelets. Donors who are 18 and younger must also meet specific height and weight requirements.
