The Waring Historical Library and MUSC University Archives announce the opening of a new exhibit:
"The Charleston Heart Study"
On February 1, 1960, the Charleston Heart Study began under the direction of Dr. Edwin Boyle Jr. It marked the beginning of a forty-year survey of heart disease and atherosclerosis among Charleston County, South Carolina residents that was known as the Charleston Heart Study.
The exhibit provides an overview of the study and its impact on the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. In addition, early researchers and physicians involved in the study are highlighted.
The physical exhibit will be on display through the end of January 2013 outside the University Archives, Room 300, 3rd floor of the Colbert Education Center and Library.
