MUSC Heart & Vascular Center is partnering with the American Heart Association to create awareness around a heart healthy lifestyle - for the next generation. To accomplish this, we are looking for child survivors of heart disease, and children of adult survivors of heart disease to submit artwork that may be chosen to be displayed at the 2013 Charleston Heart Ball!

Who Can Participate?

Any child who has been personally affected by heart disease-themselves, their parent, sibling, friend, etc.

How Do You Participate?

Use a regular piece of drawing paper (neutral color) 8 1/2 x 11.
Ask the question, "What does a healthy heart look like to you?"

Get creative and draw what you think your heart looks like.

Deadline is January 1, 2013. For questions, please contact Darlene Gaffney at 843-876-4566 or

What Happens Next?

A committee of MUSC employees and American Heart Association staff will review the submissions and choose three winning pieces to be transferred to canvas, and be a part of the 2013 Charleston Heart Ball art display.

Winners will be notified and the top winner and family will be guests at Charleston Heart Ball Thank You Party in March.
