Now in its 10th year, the Annual Lowcountry Carolina vs. Clemson Blood Battle is gearing up for another record-setting blood drive with this year?s theme ?10 Days of Giving for 10 Years.? The Charleston County Clemson Club will take on the Charleston Area Gamecock Club in a competition to donate the most pints of lifesaving blood for the community in support of their preferred university.

Donors may participate by donating blood Nov. 8-21 at the MUSC Donor Room, 171 Ashley Avenue (room 279 in the University Hospital)
Tuesday-Thursday: 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Call the donor room for an appointment or questions 843-792-1015 or visit to schedule your lifesaving appointment.

Not only will presenting donors be able to attribute their donation to the team of their choice, they will also receive a free commemorative Blood Battle T-shirt, a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Carolina vs. Clemson football game on Nov. 24 at Death Valley in Clemson and a free haircut at Great Clips.

Last year?s record-setting drive concluded with Carolina winning with 404 votes and Clemson not far behind with 296 votes. This year?s battle also promises to be a close race. Will the Gamecocks continue their winning streak for a third year in a row, or will the Tigers reclaim victory? It?s up to the donors to decide.

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver?s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are generally in good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements. Call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit for more information about blood donation.
