General

The Office of Public Relations has the responsibility for the dissemination of broadcast messages. Subscriptions to e-mail broadcast messages are voluntary; you may add or remove your subscription, at any time, on the broadcast Web page (www.musc.edu/broadcast ). The following general guidelines serve to ensure that broadcast messages efficiently and effectively serve the needs of the Medical University of South Carolina.

Purpose

To provide information about MUSC-related events and opportunities to faculty, staff and students in an efficient and timely manner.

Policy

  1. Only MUSC employees, staff and students may submit a broadcast message. When adding a message, you will be prompted for your NetID.
  2. Messages submitted before 4:00pm will be included in the next day’s broadcast e-mail; messages submitted after 4:00pm will be broadcast after two working days (note holiday closings when scheduling your broadcast date).
  3. Messages must be related to the mission of the Medical University of South Carolina. When deciding which messages to publish, The Office of Public Relations will use discretion while abiding by policy guidelines.
  4. Messages announcing sales and MUSC employee discounts for outside companies / vendors must be pre-approved through the MUSC Discounts and Perks program prior to submission. Submit your request to the program coordinator, Contrenia Haynes, at 792-7038. Approved messages will then be submitted for broadcast by the MUSC Discounts and Perks office.
  5. Repeat e-mail messages may be submitted no more than once per week, with the exception of research study advertisements, which may be submitted up to five times per month for the duration of the study.
  6. The content of the message and removal date from the Web site are subject to change at the discretion of the Office of Public Relations. Messages reside on the Web site for two weeks or through the event date, whichever comes first.
  7. Please do not include patient information in broadcast messages.

Procedure

Messages submitted to http://www.musc.edu/broadcast/add are routed to the Office of Public Relations. Upon approval, the messages are made available on the Web site within a few hours. There is a once daily (Mon-Fri) dissemination of broadcast e-mail messages.
