I am a lecturer in Psychiatry at Imperial College School of Medicine, London Divison Of Neuroscience and Psycholgical Medicine). My office is at St Mary's hospital site while the lab.work is mainly at Charing Cross Hospital where I work in collabaration with Prof. P Ellaway and Dr Nick Davey (both have lengthy in depth experience with TMS). My interest in TMS / rTMS is to use this technology to both investigate possible pathophysiolgy in neuropsychiatric disorders and explore its therpeutic potentials. Our group is currently involved in follow up study of use of TMS in drug naive schizophrenics. More specifically to look at the effect of antidopaminergic drugs on the silent period.this work was initially published in Brit J. of Psych. 1996. We are aiming to exapand our work by starting projects in use of both TMS and rTMS in Obssessive Compulsive Disorders and to investgate the treatment in opiate addiction with Naltrexone. The OCD project will involve collabaration at the Inst. of Neurology, Queen Square, with Dr John Rothwell. Along with TMS/ rTMS we aim to use other imaging tools such as MRI and MRS to widen our investigation.
