Functional mapping: Dr Mark George at MUSC has provided us with some excellent images (including 3D visualisations) as a preview of work in progress, combining the use of TMS and fMRI in locating cortical function.
Depression: Dr George also writes:
"We are starting on an outpatient treatment study in depression in July - three legs: high dose (25 hz), low dose (5 Hz) and placebo for two weeks, all left prefrontal - double blind. We will be getting MRI's and perfusion SPECT before during and after stimulation. Ambitious study, should take at least a year. We are also gearing up to do some normal volunteer work expanding on my studies about mood changes at the NIMH."
