ENHANCED COMPETENCY FOCUS OF STRS

The 2010 SRTS reflects the approach initiated at the 2000 STRS, as a result of an outcomes assessment conducted with STRS participants, from the planning of program content based solely on response to a Call for Papers to a competency-based approach to develop/refine basic practice competencies and intervention skills. To supplement the wide variety of concurrent sessions offered at the symposium, two independent tracks of certificate-based training will be offered within the symposium. These two tracks are:  Taiji Chi as a Treatment Modality (CT1), and Research (CT2).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT COMPETENCY TRACKS

Q: What does it count for?
A: The competency track provides the opportunity to receive education in specific knowledge and skill areas. Those participants who attend all the sessions in a specific track will receive a competency certificate.

Q: Do I have to pre-register to attend?
A: It is encouraged, but not required. If there is a cutoff of attendees, pre-registered participants will be seated first.

Q: Can I attend one or two sessions in a competency track if I don’t plan to attend all?
A: Yes, but you will not receive a competency certificate.

Q: What is the difference between CEU’s and competency tracks?
A: CEU’s are continuing education units, and are required for professional certification and recertification of CTRS’s. Competency tracks are groupings of sessions at our symposium related to specific knowledge and skill areas.
