What's New?
James Walker Coleman, III

It is with great sadness we note that Walker Coleman, founding administrator of the South Carolina spinal cord injury research fund, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 14. Mr. Coleman has been instrumental in the success of the research fund. Although generally behind the scenes and never seeking individual recognition, he was a tireless advocate, not only for those with spinal cord injury, but also those with traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, and other disabling conditions. As a native Charlestonian, he was uniquely qualified to help navigate the research fund through the early years. All of us with spinal cord injury and all of those who care about spinal cord injury in the state of South Carolina owe a great debt of gratitude to Mr. Coleman. We have lost his strength, determination, and his compassion. For those of us who worked with him closely, most of all, we have lost our friend.
Although moving forward without him will be a daunting task, we will do so in honor of his memory and his legacy.
