Title:  Temporomandibular Disorders and the Older Adult

Abstract:  This module explores the multiple contributing factors to the development of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and its frequency in geriatric patients. It introduces the relationship of articulating surfaces in the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) and the multiple modalities available for the treatment of TMD. It presents several measures to alleviate symptoms of TMD and offers advice for patients on behaviors that reduce trauma to the TMJ and muscles of mastication.
