The Medical University of South Carolina Discovering...Understanding...Healing...

Web Site Instructions

There are three sections to this site:  General Information; Compliance Certification; Quality Enhancement Plan.

General Information.  The first section introduces the Medical University and our site.  President Ray Greenberg initiates the communication, first by a welcome letter and then by a 2-1/2 minute video informing our visitors of the many facets of the MUSC enterprise. The second section, Major Documents, contains links to the six most frequently referenced documents in the Compliance Report - MUSC Bulletin, Student Handbook, Faculty Handbook, Charter and By-Laws of the Board, Strategic Plan, Mission Statement, MUSC's accrediting agencies and the Fact Book (Common Data Set) are also included for quick reference.

Compliance Certification.  The middle panel contains the documents and references requested for digital transmission of the Compliance Report. A paper copy of this report without the supporting documentation was mailed to the Off-Site Reviewers on September 8, 2006.  The supporting documentation, complete with URL links and/or pdf documents, was contained in CDs accompanying the paper Compliance Report.  To our Reviewers, we strongly recommend the use of this live Web site as your source for supporting documentation. While the Compliance Statements will not be altered after September 8th, we cannot guarantee that the URL links containing supporting documents will remain the same during your review period. The complexity of our Web-based information system permits changes at the department and individual level that could inadvertently disrupt the current links.

The Narrative and Documentation of the Standards and Requirements are in bold and the Statements are numbered according to the convention suggested by SACS.  Once a Statement is opened, a left panel of statement numbers will appear along with the Standard; the left panel serves as a navigational tool within that group of standards for easy navigation.

The lower panel under compliance Certification details the qualifications of the instructional faculty of MUSC and is part of the response to Comprehensive Standard 3.7.1.  A separate set of instructions details the navigation for this site.

Quality Enhancement Plan.  Although the documentation on the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is not due until January 2007, it is presented here merely as a reference; eventually, the details will be available on this site for the On-Site Reviewers in March 2007.
