The Medical University began using the card access
system in 1996. Card access is a means to secure areas with a card instead
of a key. The following buildings are equipped with card access:
Cannon Place
Basic Science Building
Childrens Research Institute
Colcock Hall
College of Health Professions A, B, and C
College of Nursing
College of Pharmacy
Education/Library Center
Family Medicine, Calhoun Street
Family Medicine, North Trident
Harborview Tower
Hollings Cancer Center
OCIO / Institute of Psychiatry
Thurmond / Gazes Building
Physical Plant PG 1
Public Safety
Vince Mosley
Walden Research Building
The building manager or supervisor should be
contacted to request an access card for the above areas.
Children's Hospital
Clinical Science
Main Hospital
Rutledge Towers
Storm Eye Institute
Dean Braddy , Hospital Safety & Security,
should be contacted to request an access card for the above areas.
Once the request has been filled out by the
appropriate person, it then needs to be sent to Public Safety to be processed.
All requests will be processed Monday -Friday between the hours of 7:30- 4:30.
If the ID/Access card is lost or misplaced, the owner will immediately notify
Public Safety at 792- 4196. Public Safety is available 24 hours a day, seven
days a week to receive this notification and remove the card from the system
to prevent unauthorized use.
