VAThe mission of the Division of Public Psychiatry is to further research, clinical, and educational activities relevant to public mental health agencies, including the federally-funded Veterans Affairs healthcare system and the state-funded Community Mental Health system.  This Division is the largest of nine divisions within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at MUSC, with 22 full-time faculty (10 M.D.s, 11 Ph.D.s, and 1 M.H.A.).

Collectively the division is responsible for approximately 30% of the teaching conducted within the department, including clinical supervision and mentorship of psychology interns and psychiatry residents, supervision of 3rd and 4th year medical students, and didactic course teaching of 1st and 3rd year medical students.

Total research funding for the Division over the past three years is in excess of $4 million.  The Division offers a number of important resources and provides an atmosphere of collegial investigators from a range of disciplines, including psychiatry, psychology, epidemiology, pharmacology, and biostatistics.

Our website is currently being developed, please check back again for more detailed information about the Division of Public Psychiatry.
