Paul B. Gold, Ph.D. Clinical Assistant Professor goldpb@musc.edu Curriculum Vitae (pdf) | | | | | | Biographical Sketch | | In 1994, Dr. Gold received his doctorate in psychology from the University of Missouri/Columbia. After a year working for the Minneapolis VAMC, he joined the Charleston VAMC as a front line provider and the Medical University of South Carolina as a researcher and educator. Through the 1990s, Dr. Gold worked full-time for the VAMC. Over the past 6 years, he has concentrated on NIH- and SAMHSA-supported longitudinal, prospective studies of community-based comprehensive service programs that serve persons with work disabilities deriving from severe mental illness and substance misuse. All of these studies involved partnerships among MUSC and the SC Departments of Mental Health, and Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services. From 1995 to 2000, Dr. Gold served on the board of directors of the local affiliate of the National Mental Health Association. Since 2000, he has served on year-round planning and funding committees of the Trident United Way, and participated as an associate vice chair on one of MUSC’s IRBs. In 2005, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the SC Action Council for Mental Health and Health and Human Services, which specializes in cross-cultural competency training, and related health care policy. | | | | | | Research Interests | Implementation and sustainability of evidence-based practices in community settings; mental health and substance misuse treatment policy.
