Biographical Sketch

Therese Killeen, Ph.D., A.P.R.N., B.C. is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Killeen has worked in the addiction field for over 15 years. Currently, Dr. Killeen is the Training Director for the Southern Consortium Node of the National Institute of Drug Abuse Clinical Trials Network. In this position she is responsible for dissemination of evidence based interventions to community substance abuse staff across the Southern region. Dr. Killeen has been an investigator on numerous pharmacotherapy and behavioral research studies. She has also been a therapist and supervisor in both research and clinical settings. Dr Killeen’s special expertise is in motivational interventions for substance abusing and dual diagnoses populations. Dr. Killeen belongs to the National Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers. As an advanced practice nurse, Dr. Killeen has prescriptive authority and has done medication management in both research and clinical settings for the past 15 years.

Motivational therapies, evidence based interventions for substance use disorders/dual diagnoses, posttraumatic stress disorder, psychopharmacology.
