Biographical Sketch

Jason E. Chapman, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the Family Services Research Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Clemson University in 1998. In 2003, he received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Drexel University after completing his pre-doctoral internship at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville , PA. Following graduation, Dr. Chapman completed a one year post-doctoral research fellowship at the Psychopathology Research Unit at the University of Pennsylvania where he was project director of a study of cognitive therapy for adult suicide attempters. His research interests have largely focused on the effectiveness of community-based interventions for individuals with severe psychopathology. Dr. Chapman is currently working on NIMH and NIDA funded grants evaluating the transportability of MST to community settings and the state-wide adoption and implementation of MST for adolescents with substance use disorders.
