Applications for our twelve PGY 1 positions (start-up date July 2008) WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED THROUGH THE ELECTRONIC RESIDENCY APPLICATION SERVICE (ERAS). Note that faxed, mailed or emailed materials will not be processed.

Applications must be complete (with the exception of the Dean's Letter, which is typically available November 1st) in order to be considered for an interview. A personal interview is required in order to be considered for a residency position. We suggest you have all materials submitted as soon as possible.

Interviews are conducted Late-October through January on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (exceptions: Nov. 12, Nov. 21-23, Dec. 24-Jan. 4, Jan. 21).

(informal dinner with a current resident the evening before is optional)

Interviews are granted on a first come, first served basis. Dates will fill quickly, so don't delay getting your date scheduled!

The following items must be received through ERAS (please go to the ERAS website for further instructions):

  • Common Application Form
  • Personal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Recent Photograph
  • Dean's Letter
  • Three Other Letters from medical school faculty (at least one from psychiatry faculty)
  • Official Medical School Transcript
  • Copy of USMLE or COMLEX board scores. Results of USMLE Step 2 (CK) must be received by February 1, 2008.

Applications from International Medical School Graduates including American citizens from medical schools outside the U.S. or Canada,  must also include a valid copy of the ECFMG certificate, and Verification that you have worked at least 1 year in an American  Medical School or Hospital setting as a research assistant or observer. Applicants to our program must not have graduated from  medical school longer than 3 years ago, have minimum scores of 220 on both Steps 1 and 2 of the USMLE examinations, be fluent in both  written and spoken English, and submit 2 additional letters of recommendation from attending physicians where you obtained experience in an American hospital setting.

With regard to VISA sponsorship, the Department of Psychiatry will determine it's sponsorship of J1 VISAs on a case by case basis, however, we are currently not set up to support the H1B VISA process.
