A Quarter-Century of HIV/AIDS: Its Neuropsychiatric and Neurologic Aspects

At the completion of this session, the participant should be able to:

1)

Understand the changes in prevalence and treatment of HIV-1-associated  neurocognitive disorders since the beginning of the epidemic;

2)

Understand the changes in prevalence and treatment of neurologic disorders with psychiatric manifestations (e.g. distal sensory polyneuropathy, progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, and CVA risk)

3)

Understand the impact of these disorders on functional status in HIV-1 infection

4)

Understand the impact of these disorders with immunologic and virologic measures of HIV-1 disease progession
