Sex Differences in Pain and Opioid Analgesia

  At the completion of this session, the participant should be able to:

1)

Describe sex differences in pain syndromes in humans.

2)

Describe organizational vs. activational roles of gonadal hormones in the development of sex differences in pain and opioid analgesia.

3)

Describe at least two possible cellular mechanisms underlying sex differences in pain or opioid analgesia.
