The Catalyst

The Catalyst is the main internal communication piece for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). The weekly tabloid is published every week by the MUSC Office of Public Relations for the faculty, employees and students of MUSC. The appearance of advertisements in this publication does not constitute an endorsement by MUSC or the State of South Carolina.

Three Public Relations staff members cover happenings at the university and hospital and handle most of The Catalyst’s production. Types of stories published in The Catalyst include features about an employee or patient, new research, or the explanation of new policies and procedures.

The Catalyst’s Internet version, launched in 1997, currently averages 440,000 Web visits a month; http://www.musc.edu/catalyst/.
