Description of Research Program
Drug design, metabolism and mass spectrometric analysis: The influence of drug bioavailability/metabolism on clinical response is being explored through the synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of metabolites and through the application of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to therapeutic drug monitoring.  The relationship between drug stereochemistry and biological activity is being investigated following analytical and preparative scale isomeric resolutions.  The design and synthesis of psychotherapeutic drug candidates is being directed at specific neurotransmitter receptor subtypes and at overcoming biological barriers.
