Philosophy:

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine encourages the rapid turnaround of specimens for usage by not only seasoned, well-funded investigators, but also those investigators engaged in Medical University of South Carolina Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved preliminary, pilot and exploratory studies. Justification for use must be adequate, but need not be excessive prior to dispensation of samples. Requesting investigators may be associated with the Medical University of South Carolina or an outside institution of higher education (with approval from their university IRB). The latter are given increased consideration if in collaboration with MUSC investigators.
