Dermatopathology Fellowship Director: John S. Metcalf, M.D.
Program This is an accredited one-year training program offered by the Departments of Pathology and Dermatology. Emphasis is placed on morphology and correlation with clinical findings, but there is also ample opportunity for research. For the first eight (8) months of training the resident with a dermatology background will receive training in anatomic pathology with an emphasis on surgical pathology (50%) and dermatopathology (50%). The remaining four (4) months of training will consist entirely of dermatopathology training. For the resident with a pathology background, the first eight (8) months will consist of 50% training in clinical dermatology and 50% training in dermatopathology. The remaining four (4) months will consist entirely of dermatopathology training. Throughout the entire training year the resident will be expected to attend and participate in rounds, conferences and lectures in dermatology and pathology and to study the morphology and mechanisms of cutaneous diseases. The faculty includes Drs. John S. Metcalf (director), Jonathan Ralston, and other members of the pathology and dermatology faculty. Requirements Completion of an ACGME accredited program in anatomic pathology, anatomic and clinical pathology, or dermatology. Applications should be received by January 1st of the year preceding the year of the fellowship (18 months prior to the beginning of the fellowship).
