What MUSC is doing in your county

South Carolina Asset Maps / County Profiler

Publicly-supported universities are part of the public domain. Therefore, their assets are "owned" by the community. In this respect, their assets should be shared with the community for the public good as part of the resources of the larger community. MUSC has begun a process of mapping its assets as a first step to better integrate its activities with the needs and priorities of local communities in South Carolina and to identify and share assets within the institution to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and improve efficiency. Two kinds of asset maps are prepared. The first maps include county-specific health profiles and MUSC outreach programs active in that county. Each of the 46 counties is presented, along with current students, alumni, board representatives, and philanthropy. The second kind of map contains a specific program across several counties. For example, we identified 12 mobile health units (vans) in South Carolina, including three of ours. By mapping them by county, we can see which counties do not have access to health screening.
