Shared Interest Groups

As any organization moves forward, special focus areas emerge. These Shared Interest Groups (SIGs) are where organizational members with common interests come together in a cooperative manner to achieve shared goals.

Within MUSC, some SIGs have developed organically. One such group is the long-established Information Technology Coordinators' Group chaired by Dr. W. Roger Poston, II.

One SIG has formed around document imaging solutions and has a broad membership that spans the MUSC enterprise. Chaired by Sue Pletcher, MUHA, the group is evaluating current imaging solutions on campus, developing standards, and seeking ways to maximize our investment in these technologies.

Dr. Gail Stuart chairs the SIG group that focuses on clinical simulation.

John Dell chairs one group addressing 508 (IT accessibility) compliance issues. This group is working to ensure MUSC sites follow the state's recommended standards. More information on the group.

The CIO, the IMC, and other components of the IT Governance structure work with SIGs to ensure that their requirements are taken into account and balanced with the overall needs of the MUSC enterprise.
