Accelerated BSN-MSN Program Program Outline
The Accelerated BSN/MSN program is designed to take up to 3 years to complete depending on the graduate program selected. Both fall and spring entries are available. The MUSC College of Nursing offers the following graduate programs for the BSN/MSN student: 
Program Benefits
The advantage of the Accelerated BSN/MSN program is that it is not necessary to reapply to the MSN program. You begin taking graduate courses during the last semester of the BSN program. The BSN portion must be completed on a full time basis, however the MSN portion can be completed full time or part-time. Students must finish the BSN portion of the program with a GPA of 3.0 or above, and pass the NCLEX to continue in the MSN course work. Spring entrance students do not begin the Master's portion of their program until the fall semester, meaning that you will not take classes during the summer semester following completion of the undergraduate course work. As a graduate of the Accelerated BSN/MSN program, you will be prepared to function in a variety of advanced practice roles including primary care, case management, administration, education, consultation and research. Likewise, the advanced practice nurse (APN) works in a wide range of settings including community-based primary care practices, rural health clinics, school-based health clinics, schools of nursing, health agencies and hospitals.
Admission Requirements
The preferred minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) should be a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students must earn a minimum grade of "C" in prerequisite courses. Course work may be in progress at the time of application, but must be completed by the initial date of enrollment.
Preferred GRE score of 1000 on the combined verbal and quantitative components. Committee prefers verbal score of at least 500 for consideration. Applicants should also submit official transcripts, three (3) satisfactory reference forms included with the application, a one hundred (100) word essay and a resumé. It is highly suggested that applicants have volunteer or work experience in a health care setting. |

¹Clinical component: All students enrolled in clinical courses are required to submit proof of CPR certification covering the human lifespan - infant to adult. All students are also required to receive the Hepatitis B vaccine prior to enrollment in clinical courses. Spring Admission: For students entering the Accelerated Bachelor/Masters program in the spring semester, the graduate portion will not begin until the fall semester. This means students will not take classes during the summer semester following the completion of the undergraduate work. This will allow students time to complete the nursing licensure examination (NCLEX). Semester Hour Breakdown: 1:1 (Didactic), 2:1 (Seminar), 3:1 (Clinical/Lab)

The Medical University of South Carolina offers applicants an admission process that is timely and easy to understand. Applications are available online only. You may apply online by following the link below, or by copying & pasting it in the address bar of your browser.

The online University Application is available several months before the application deadline. Applicants are encouraged to file early to expedite processing.

Criminal Background Check and Drug Screen
Upon matriculation, all College of Nursing students will be required to undergo a criminal background check and complete a drug screen.

The College of Nursing Undergraduate and Graduate programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The Undergraduate program is approved by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Board of Nursing.
