Alumni Office

The College of Nursing Office of Student and Alumni Affairs serves as the bridge to the MUSC Office of Alumni Affairs. Mardi Long, the Director of Student and Alumni Relations serves as the liaison with the MUSC Office of Alumni Affairs. She also is a member of the College of Nursing Alumni Board of Directors, together with Dean Gail Stuart and two student representatives. The goal of the Board is to enhance communication among the College of Nursing faculty, students, and alumni.

College of Nursing alumni support various student activities and present the "Outstanding Student Award(s)" at Convocation each December and May. Alumni also sponsor five $2000 scholarships to students enrolled in various College of Nursing degree programs. These scholarships are presented at the College of Nursing Alumni Homecoming, an event which is always a fun highlight of the year.

Alumni are invited to participate in other activities throughout the academic year. For example, a recent graduate is chosen to present their "Reflections" at each Stethoscope Ceremony, an event in which new students are welcomed into the profession of nursing. Alumni also participate in classroom and extracurricular activities, whether it be precepting or serving on a panel discusssion in which they share insights about various nursing roles or provide pointers about seeking employment as a professional nurse. Students particularly enjoy shadowing alumni in the workplace.

Alumni are an invaluable resource of the College of Nursing. The College is proud to highlight the history of our graduates, their current accomplishments, and their insights into the future.
